Mangod: PSP 2 and DS 2 Will Debut at E3 2010

Mangod, aka Shane Bettenhausen of Ignition Entertainment and previously of EGM, hypothesized on this week's 4 Guys 1UP podcast that Sony and Nintendo's portable follow ups will be shown at this year's E3:

"I think the big story of E3 is DS 2 and PSP 2. I'm really excited to see that," he further commented that the "DS and PSP both existed in completely different sides [...] if those two put out similar products at the same time, it really evens the playing field."

Shane is widely believed to have been behind EGM's (mostly accurate) Quarterman rumor column back in the day. Now he's on the publishing side of things with, presumably, more insider info. What do you guys make of his comments on the popular internet podcast? Truth or just stirring the pot up?

Sounds about right, according to several sources DS 2 dev kits have already gone out to some developers.

The handhelds won't be launching until 2011 so an E3 reveal this year gives them enoguh time to start the hype train rolling.

You might be right. E3 isn't unknown for introducing products that are years down the line. I'm sure we'll get at least an announcement of new portables but the biggest launches for this year will be Natal and Gem.
